The Internal and External Remedies of Raw Honey

The nectar of flowers produces a natural substance called raw honey. The honeybee, apis mellifera then collects and transforms it. Honey has been known to be a type of medicine that is able to treat and cure a number of diseases. The benefits of raw honey are many, and it has been used as both internal and external remedies. Internal Uses of Raw Honey

Vision: At night, take Triphala along with honey and ghee.

Chronic Indigestion: Combine one part trikatu, two parts chitrak and one part kutki. Take ¼ teaspoon of this mixture with honey and fresh ginger before meals.

Hypertension: Mix one teaspoon of garlic juice with two teaspoons of honey and take it in the morning and evening.

Kapha Vriddhi: Every morning on an empty stomach, take warm lemon water with one tbsp. honey in it.

Meda Vriddhi: Drink one cup of warm water with one teaspoon of honey in the morning.

Peptic Ulcer: Mix one teaspoon of honey in warm milk. You can also add a pinch of cardamom. Take this after lunch and dinner.

Hiccups: Lick some honey slowly until hiccups reduce.

Common Cold: Take equal quantities of sitopaladi, talisadi and mahasudarshan and blend it. Mix ½ teaspoon of this herbal preparation with honey. Take this little throughout the day.

Cough: Combine equal parts of maricha and pippali and mix with honey. Lick from a spoon.

Allergies: Take ½ teaspoon of a mixture of honey and turmeric in the morning.

External Uses of Raw Honey

Canker Sores: Clean the ulcer site and apply raw honey on it after meals.

Burns: Apply ghee and honey to the injured spot. Make a bandage by covering the wound in honey and putting non-stick sterile gauze on it to cover it.

Cuts: Coat honey on the wound and surrounding area to help prevent infection.

Conjunctivitis: Mix ¼ teaspoon of honey, a pinch of rock salt and ½ cup warm filtered water. Mix it well until completely dissolved. When the water has reached room temperature, wash the eyes with it. Rinse thoroughly.

Hair Health: Make a hair mask by combining equal parts of coconut oil and honey. You can also add bhringraj oil or herbal powder. Leave in hair for maximum one hour before washing.

Dry Scalp: Apply honey to the scalp before going to sleep in the night. Ensure to keep the hair covered. Wash out in the morning.

Skin Health: Apply 1-2 tablespoons of raw honey to the face and leave on for up to 20 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and a soft cloth.

Chapped Lips: Coat the lips with raw honey before going to bed, and even during the daytime as needed. You can make a lip balm with raw honey, shea butter and coconut oil.
